Senior UX Designer

Passionate about user experience design? Have a thing for mobile? Have a rounded UX skillset with a breadth of experience? Great! We’re looking for a senior designer to become part of our team building some of Australia's most popular and high-profile digital products. 

Our mobile team (formerly known as Outware Mobile) have spent years creating products for companies like ANZ, Transurban, SEEK and Coles. We have a wealth of experience in mobile design and we love what we do. We’re now looking for an enthusiastic senior user experience designer to join our team to work with some of the most passionate mobile experts in the country and help define products for millions of Australians.

The role

We’re working on a number of new projects and are looking for a senior designer who can take ownership of design work and lead teams through the end to end design process. You’ll work closely with designers, product owners, stakeholders and development teams, ensuring that users are at the centre of everything that we do and sharing that passion with the rest of the team. You’ll be able to work within timeframes (which you help define) with a pragmatic approach in defining solutions which create value for users whilst being technically feasible. Oh, and you’re open to having some fun which you’re doing it.

What you’ll be doing

  • Applying a user-centred design approach to research, design and test app concepts
  • Working with stakeholders, product owners and developers to gather and understand product requirements
  • Undertaking research into user attitudes and behaviour
  • Preparing and facilitating client collaborative design workshops and design sprints
  • Creating interactive prototypes to communicate your intentions and validate ideas
  • Preparing and facilitating user testing sessions
  • Regularly presenting your work to stakeholders at weekly showcases
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure that the technical dependencies and possible user experience risks are handled upfront
  • Working with development teams to take validated concepts into production, through the Agile development lifecycle
  • Working with our business development team to scope and define new project work

Your skills

  • Demonstrated UX design experience - ideally with corporate or digital agency environments (mobile design experience is highly advantageous)
  • Experience in having overall ownership and responsibility of design for a product
  • Comfortable facilitating multi-day workshops involving large groups of stakeholders, with an ability to think on your feet
  • Demonstrated experience across a range of qualitative and quantitative research techniques
  • Experience creating interactive prototypes for customer testing using tools such as Sketch and InVision
  • Experience preparing and moderating testing sessions and presenting findings to stakeholders
  • Ability to express your ideas and opinion on what makes a great mobile user experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of iOS and Android design guidelines
  • Understanding of the Agile software delivery environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues (including those working remotely)
  • Experience presenting to groups of stakeholders
  • Ability to work at high speed, multi-task, and manage multiple projects at once with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable about mobile apps and devices
  • An eye for detail; you know that it’s the small things that make a good product a great product
  • Professionalism and a delivery focused attitude
  • Visual Design skills desirable but not essential
